We were on the way home from church today and I was explaining to the kids that I needed their help to run inside and grab food as quick as possible--that we were going to eat in the car on the way to pick up Daddy and then drive back to the church for Tithing settlement.
Spencer: Oh, and I will run fast to get my quarter out of my piggy bank.
Me: Why's that, Spence.
Spence: It's my tithing.
Sarah: My tooth fairy money
Me: Do you want to pay tithing on your tooth fairy money?
Sarah: yeah!
So we ran inside and grabbed food and I decided I'd better slow down and teach them to fill out tithing slips.
We jumped back in the car and got to the Bishops office with Justin. Spencer runs up to the Bishop with his envelope of tithing behind his back.
Spence: Hey Bishop! I want to show you something.
Bishop: What Spence.
Spence: Look at this! (as he hands him his envelope with a big jump)
Later in the Bishop's office Spence and Bishop had a great conversation.
Spence: Are you gonna open my envelope?
(Bishop explained the process)
Spence: Where does it go?
(Bishop summed it up wonderfully)
I feel bad that this was the first time my kids had actually paid tithing. It probably should have happened before now, but I love that it was all Spencer's idea. Way to go little buddy!

Wow, aren't they amazing. It is so simple for them too. Of course they want to pay tithing on their tooth fairy money...I guess that is what it means when we are to 'become like a child.'
Gotta love kids and their great examples!! They learn things so much faster than we give them credit for sometimes!!
