Just Bein' a Mom and Findin' Friends in the Process

I have this friend.  She was my next door neighbor in Provo, Utah a few years back.  Literally her door was a foot away from mine.  One day I got a babysitter for my two very small children up in Salt Lake while Justin was at school/work and drove down to our new apartment in Provo.

I wanted to clean it really nice before we moved in and just have in my mind how I was going to move our family down there.  I was a little nervous about having new neighbors and a new ward.  Pretty much from 5:00 in the morning until 11:00 at night I was on my own except for Sundays.  My amazing husband was working full time, flight instructing on the side, and going to school full time.

I explain this and will add one more detail so when you click the link below you'll have more understanding.  That detail is my oldest daughter, Sarah.  At this point, she was almost three yrs. old and we were still trying to put a name/label to what she had going on.  We'd almost lost her multiple times and we were still taking her to doctor/therapy apts. constantly.  Her slow motor skills, developmental delays, and speech issues were among other things.  This is mostly why I was so protective of my little family.  I can't tell you how my prayers were answered and how I went home so excited for this move after I met Laurie, my new next door neighbor.

We didn't talk very long, but as I sat scrubbing my new front door and she came out and talked to me for a minute--I just knew.  I just knew and felt like we'd be good friends.  This is her blog and when she asked me to do a guest post, I felt honored:  Small and Simple by Laurie

We've had many friends as we've come and gone from 7 different places in the almost ten years we've been married.  Some are great memories, some have sort of been forgotten, and a few have stayed our friends through the distance--these are those people that have taught us things that have forever changed us.  Laurie and Travis are certainly one of these friends that we feel like we've taken parts of the things we've learned from them with us.  For sure when we cross their path again we'll be good friends and pick up right where we left off.  In the meantime we're grateful for technology!
