Imaginary Play

Sarah has always just dressed and undressed her babies, put the dress-ups on or off, put the puzzle together than put it away, picks up the play food after everyone else, etc. She doesn't really act out real scenes or play with her friends really. It's more like the parallel play that most kids begin with.

The other morning I walked into the family room and saw her with keys in her hands, diaper bag over her shoulder. Her baby was buckled in her carseat and on one side of the couch. I watched Sarah sit on the other side of the couch pull her feet up in front of her like she was sitting in a car and she proceeded to pretend to put the keys in the ignition and started to pretend like she was steering. I listened to her talk to her baby doll in the back seat and she told me she was going to church and that she would be back.

This made my day! One because she was acting this all out and using her imagination (this never happens), and two--she was pretending to go to church of all places. What a girl. What a girl!
