Homemaking

So, I've been working on my homemaking lately--it's always a work in progress, isn't it? I guess it should be. One of my new finds (thanks to Tasha) is Daryl Hoole's book "The Ultimate Career, The Art of Homemaking for Today."
I have all kinds of new organizing tips and fresh ideas on raising my children but I especially love her chapters on "Depression/Anxiety"--when the mom doesn't feel good, and also her chapter on "Special Needs Children." These happen to be two things that I face in my own life.
I'm often repeating to myself that our "Heavenly Father doesn't give us trials we can't handle," but some days I feel my load is too heavy and it's nice knowing there are others out there that are surviving the same kinds of battles. I feel like I'm moving through molasses some days too, and love that I was reminded in this book that "it doesn't matter how fast or how efficiently" I'm moving through my day. "It matters that I'm moving."
My ultimate support has been the Atonement. I'm so grateful that I'm able to not only lean on but to hand over my load to my Savior, the one person who is perfectfully empathetic. I certainly see that moments of pain in my life our sources of strength when I use his healing power, his sacrifice.
We all suffer things in our life, it's the vulnerable, teachable state that gives an opportunity to understand, to be taught, to listen that is so powerful. When I'm in the thick of thin I so often forget this, but I try. I try to remember that. I love patiently and slowly making my way through books like this to uplift, to inspire, and to pull me back to understanding.
I just thought I would share a great source of help for me. So, to the other homemakers out there reading this--my best wishes! I love that we are all learning and growing!
"The homemaker has the ultimate career. All other careers exist for one purpose only--and that is to support this ultimate career." -C.S. Lewis

I am glad that you liked it. It is my favorite! Her older book "The Art of Homemaking" is also wonderful! I am currently reading "The Art of Teaching Children" (all by Daryl Hoole)
