Justin and I just started to read this together. We're only through the first chapter and I'm already loving it! I'll give ya more updates, but it's been on my mind all morning. It's made such a difference to me already. I'm thinking about the words that are coming out of my mouth and been taught very valuable principles too!Anyone know what the word "Genshai" means? It means that you should never treat another person in a manner that would make them feel small. I had images of many times a day come to my mind when I read that last night. I hate to say I probably make too many people feel that way and don't intentionally do it either.
The book gives a great illustration of this: If I were to walk by a beggar in the street and casually toss him a coin, I would not be practicing Genshai. But if i knelt down on my knees and looked him in the eye when I placed that coin in his hand, that coin became love. Then and only then, after I had exhibited pure, unconditional brotherly love, would I beocme a true practitioner of Genshai.
Doesn't the chills run up an down your spine when you sit and reflect on that? It does mine. Just a little food for thought for your day!

It sounds like a wonderful book.
That's tender, thanks for sharing. I love that you and Justin read books together. Do you mean that literally? Do you read out-loud to each other? Tom and I have read books simultaneously and discussed them, but not really "together"...how fun.
We do. Every once in a while we'll read out loud to eachother. It works great on car trips! This time Justin did the dishes while I sat in a chair in the middle of the kitchen and read to him. Great idea, huh? I think I got the better deal for sure!!!
Sounds like it'll be my next read.
