My Mom

Isn't she a beautiful mom?  You'll have to excuse my picture of a picture thing I have going on, but these happen to be the pictures that I have with me out here in Texas.  I really need to do some gathering and scanning next time I'm home.  I just wanted to share memories I have of my mom.

First, that she's beautiful.

With five children and a very busy husband she kept us all in order.  I never remember missing a Sunday of church, I loved finding her on her knees by her bed praying, I used to wish I could exercise has good as she did when she did "Jane Fonda".  I couldn't wait for my "off track" in elementary school so we could make more picnics and take them to Zions.

I loved coming home to her cookies and milk after school.  I'll never forget our trip to England together and going off on our own because she's brave and likes an adventure.  I love that it was important to her that I took piano and dance.  I love remembering her teaching us to use our manners at the table (sometimes she would even show us what we looked like when we weren't :).  She taught me good posture.  She taught me "less is more."  She taught me "the bump."  She taught me "what goes around comes around."

She would wake me up for scripture study in the morning with song--whether I liked it or not.  She always had pretty flowers on our porch.  I believe it's because of her that I love music so much.  She always had music--beautiful, pretty, calm music playing in the background at home.  She taught me how to open all the windows everyday for sunshine and to "air the house out."  She taught me how to have quality verses quantity.  She taught how to pray when I had bad dreams.

She taught me that I wanted to be a mother too.  She taught me about culture and travel.  She taught me how to laugh and be silly when it was really late at night.  She taught me how to set a beautiful table and entertain a crowd...still does (thanks for the recipes when I call).  My meals may not taste like hers but she taught me to do a little art in the kitchen.

She taught and still teaches me how to take care of myself so I have something to give.  She taught me that a nap is okay.  She taught me to take my vitamins, drink water, and eat a balanced diet.

She taught me that "there is a time and season for everything."  She taught me to love books.  I love that even though she doesn't particularly love airplanes that she flies to see us.  I know I can call her any day, any time and she'll just chat...

I love you, Mom.  Thanks for being you and being my mom and my kids grandma!  The older I get the more I realize everything you do.  Thank you!
Your Meg

Very well done, you do have a wonderful Mother that took the job of Motherhood seriously and was definitely successful at it.

Beautiful! Aren't moms wonderful? You must be the baby in the first picture that looks just like Allison!
