I had a funeral I wanted to fly out to in Salt Lake, so with the help of my most wonderful husband and my mom, I turned it into a weekend. I welcomed the kids home from their last day of school and then met Justin at the airport with the minivan full of kids. I really enjoyed that little swap :)
As sad as the funeral was, I love the fact that moments like those recenter we on the things most important. I guess it just brings heaven and earth together for me. I'm glad my mom could be there to share with me and then of course I loved our mulitple quiet meals together, our little shopping trip, stopping in to check out Shelf Reliance, our quiet mornings of sleeping in, climbing into bed with room service and a movie and mostly treasure our time spent at Temple Square. We got to see the "Joseph Smith" movie and go to the temple. This was a fantastic way to start off the summer!
I love Salt Lake. We had a chance to drive up by our old house while we were there. I hadn't seen it since the day we moved. This was the house that we moved our very sick little 6 month old Sarah to. We moved there to be close to Primary Children's Hospital and to get Justin going in Business School at the U. Hmmm, our course sure changed, didn't it?!?!
We lived here on Bryan Avenue in Sugar House for just over 3 years. I served in the YW presidency, Justin was in the Elders Quorum, we started Justin's Aviation Education there and brought Spencer home from the hospital as well. It was so fun to see all the same little cracks in the side walk, the corner that I hit my head on when I slipped on the ice, the little entrance to the park across the street, the grumpy old landlords house, Jocelyn's old house, etc. Good times!
